The University of Kentucky Libraries maintains a collection of approximately 28,000 microfilm masters. Housed in a climate-controlled storage facility, these microfilms include newspapers, monographs, serials, records, scrapbooks, and other archival materials.
This database provides access to the listings of the Kentucky newspapers that have been microfilmed at the University of Kentucky. You may search by title, city, county, date range or a combination of fields.
You may purchase copies of the microfilm from the UK Libraries Preservation Reformatting Center at $50 (all years up to 2000) or $80 (2001 or later). See purchase information on this link.
The microfilm can be viewed in the Periodicals Department in William T. Young Library or they can be borrowed through your Interlibrary Loan department.
Not all Kentucky newspapers available for use in the Periodicals Department in William T. Young Library are included in this database (e.g., The Lexington Herald-Leader and the Courier Journal). To find other available Kentucky newspapers, search the InfoKat Online Catalog or consult the librarians at the Young Library Reference Desk.
